Environmental Microbiology Laboratory, Inc. specializes in the analysis of air and surface samples. We analyze volumetric air samples such as culturable (Andersen) samples for fungi and bacteria, and spore trap samples (Allergenco, Burkard, Zefon Air-O-Cell) for fungi. Culturable analysis includes identifications to genus (speciation for Aspergillus), counts, and mathematical conversions to colony forming units per cubic meter of air. We also offer full speciation of culturable samples in which every isolate is identified to genus and species. Bacterial analysis includes counts, and a general assessment of the types isolated. Spore trap analysis includes identifications and mathematical conversions to spores per cubic meter of air. Tape, bulk, and swab surface samples are examined directly under the microscope. In addition, we offer quantitative fungal and bacterial cultures on carpet dust, bulk, and swab samples, as well as screens for E. coli (coliforms) for sewage related problems.
